Southern Traverse Aug. '08
BenJammin Brown set up this most excellent stomp to the south end of Shenandoah Mountain. With Ben, OB2, Whippasnappa, Penny Booze, and Anne along it made for some fine camping. We named our base Camp Rollastump, and the shower made it downright civilized. Sat. morning the 4 stompers headed up GA camp, a 5 mile ascent to the ridge. from there the single track seemed to go on forever, and for about 6 hours, it did. then we made the long road ride back to camp, stopping in Deerfield for ice cream and soda. Anne and Penny did the climb up Hankey and descended Dowels Draft, self-guided. Dinner as usual was gourmet fare. Morning woke to another ascent up the mighty GA camp, and then north on the ridge, crossing 250 to Confederate Breastworks. There we me the girls, and descended Road Hollow to the base of Bridge Hollow. A singletrack climb, and then another killer descent down Braleys, which was in perfect condition. Killer MTB weekend, for sure!
